Austin sure does love its outdoor festivals… so much so that it holds one of its longest-running open-air events not once, but twice a year. The Pecan Street Festival has two iterations — fall and spring – and this year’s spring version is right around the corner. Paying homage to the fact that downtown’s numbered streets were once named for types of trees, the arts & crafts extravaganza takes over the 24-block stretch of 6th Street between Brazos Street and IH35 as it used to be called “Pecan Street.” The free family event has been taking place for 33 years and shows no signs of slowing down with its musical entertainment, artisan booths, craft displays, and local food and drinks galore.
