Halloween Fun: Goblins in the Garden

It could be said that no holiday is more whimsical and kid-friendly than Halloween, and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center gets into the spirit this year with its Goblins in the Garden event. On Sunday, October 30 from 4 to 7 pm, the center will be transformed into a playground of hallowed delights, from puppet shows, balloon art and face painting to live music, pumpkin patch photo sessions and staff-led scavenger hunts. Stick around a while longer and catch the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow’s screening of Little Shop of Horrors, the tongue-in-cheek musical comedy about a man-eating giant plant. Tricks and treats abound!

The Mexican American Cultural Center expands its horizons this Saturday night as it presents The Silk Road: An Asian Epicurean Experience.  The ticketed event boasts seven food and wine pairings from local restaurants like Koriente and Kala’s Kuisine, as well as a tea bar sponsored by Zhi Tea, with sommeliers on hand to guide you through your culinary experience. Proceeds benefit Salehi for Asian Families, which provides critical services to domestic violence, sexual assault and trafficking survivors — a worthy cause indeed.
