If you’ve got big plans to build something awesome but don’t have the right equipment to make it a reality, TechShop might be just the place for you. Originally launched in San Francisco and later expanding to include six locations around the US, the “tech gym” offers access to $1 million worth of public workshop tools and materials, from welding, woodworking, laser-cutting and milling to bookbinding, sewing and fabrication. Available through monthly or annual memberships, the equipment is accessible via drop-in visits and organized classes taught by fellow members, and cleverly enough, the Round Rock location feeds right into the Lowe’s store next door. Now, the next time you want to create that concoction of epic proportions, you’ll know exactly where to go to get it done. Memberships are $175 per month, with discounts for long-term signups.
